Opportunities for Spiritual Growth

The main avenue for spiritual growth at St. Andrew's is our weekly celebration of the Holy Eucharist.  This act is foundational to who we are as disciples of Jesus Christ.  We believe that by the power of the Holy Spirit that Christ is truly present in the consecrated bread and wine of the Eucharist.  We also believe that when we receive Him by faith in our hearts, the Holy Spirit transforms us to be the Body of Christ- the hands and feet of Jesus acting in love in the world.

However, life in Christ is not a Sunday only activity.  We must nurture our relationship with God in Christ daily through prayer, study, and acts of service and compassion.  To help you grow in faith, St. Andrew's offers the following resources.

Contemplative Prayer

We gather on Wednesdays at 11 am in the Lady Chapel to pray together using various forms of contemplative prayer, which may include the Jesus Prayer, the Rosary, Centering Prayer, Lectio-Divina, Eucharistic Adoration, or Gazing Prayer with icons.  The group is open to people with various levels of experience.  If you area beginner, you are most welcome.  Come quiet your heart and mind and be mindful of the presence of Jesus.

Solemn Evensong and Benediction

Throughout the year we celebrate Solemn Evensong, one of the greatest treasures of our Anglican Tradition, followed by a moment of adoring the Eucharistic Presence of Jesus through Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.  Worship times will be announced on the Upcoming Events page.

Marian Devotion

Together with St. Paul's, Berlin, we sponsor a cell of the Society of Our Lady of Walsingham, an Anglican devotional society to Our Lady.  We gather quarterly to pray the rosary, share Holy Communion, and fellowship with a potluck dinner.  Email the parish office for more information if you would like to participate.  Meeting times will be announced on the Upcoming Events page.

Christian Education

Throughout the year events are planned to help us grow in knowledge and faith.  These include lecture series, rector's forums, Quiet Days and opportunities for learning in Lent.  Opportunities will be announced on the Upcoming Events page.
